It has also become clear that since some of this was written a year or more ago, some things have changed and we therefore somewhen need to both date the original studies and also to add updates on what has happened since.

Elgin marbles.

The Elgin marbles are pieces of marble from the Parthenon in Greece, brought to Britain in the 1800's. They are a major attraction in the British museum. Greece would like them returned, but the British museum says they are art that belongs to them.

Petrol Prices

Petrol prices in Britain are very high compared with many other places. When oil prices rise, so does petrol prices, when oil prices fall they do not, so constant hikes in price have occurred. This has been added to by taxation and taxation on taxation in the form of VAT. Cars are necessary in business, and by people who live where there is no public transport and need to get to work, it can therefore also be looked on as a tax on those who live in the country, where travel for people living in cities is often subsidized. 

NH waiting lists.

In Britain, there is a considerable wait to see a consultant, and again for an operation. Many consultants work part time for the NHS and part time in private practice. If you go private you can jump the list, yet seethe same doctor and have treatment at the same place.  a half way step is available in that you can have a private consultation, that costs around £80, which then gets you onto the waiting list, and may get you some way up it.

Military intervention in other countries

There is a tendency for UK, European, USA or UN forces to get involved in civil disputes in various countries. 

Credit Reference Agencies

In Britain there are a small number of specialist reference agencies. These hold records on a large percentage of the population. We found a large proportion of the information held to be inaccurate, and in other cases listing or threatening to list a person was used as a means of blackmailing an individual involved in a dispute. 

Car Clampers.

People trespassing and parking on your private site can be a problem. One answer has been to allow specialist clampers to move in, and providing they have signs up to clamp offending vehicles and charge very large sums for their release. In concept this would deter people from parking there.

Car pools

In the USA and some other places car pools are encouraged as a means of cutting down city traffic. People share rides, full cars are allowed to use bus and other special lanes, and everyone benefits.
